Kansai Airport lost and found: KIX, airline, train, and terminal items

How to find the right lost-property contact at Kansai International Airport when you have already left Osaka or Japan.

Short answer

Kansai Airport routes lost-property inquiries by location. An item left in a terminal, shop, or airport facility may have a different contact from an item left on an aircraft, at customs, on JR West, on Nankai Railway, or on an airport bus. Identify the last controlled area before submitting an inquiry.

What to do

  1. 1

Identify the last place you handled the item

Separate the aircraft cabin, airline counter, security or customs area, terminal building, shop, station, train, limousine bus, parking area, and taxi. Each may have a different responsible organization.

  2. 2

Use the KIX location contact list

Kansai Airport's official lost-property form says the contact number varies by the place where the item was lost. Use the area list first; submit the inquiry form if you cannot identify the correct contact.

  3. 3

    Give a useful travel record

Include the terminal, date, flight or train number, route, time, gate or shop, exact item description, and whether the item contains a passport, phone, battery, medicine, or other restricted content.

  4. 4

    Confirm a Japanese handoff

Ask whether the holder will release the item to an authorized representative or send it domestically. International shipping, identification, and holding periods are controlled by the holder or carrier.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kansai Airport handle items lost on a plane?

Usually the airline handles aircraft, airline-counter, and airline-lounge items. Kansai Airport's contact list helps separate these from terminal-area items.

What if I lost something on the train to KIX?

Contact the operator that ran the train, such as JR West or Nankai Railway, rather than the airport's general lost-property desk.

Can I report a KIX item from overseas?

Yes. Start with the official location contact list or inquiry form and provide a Japanese recipient plan if the item cannot be shipped internationally.
