Short answer

Tokyo Metro's official English guidance uses a day-based route. On the day of loss, contact the nearest station office. From the next day through roughly four days later, items are generally held at the Lost and Found Center at Iidabashi Station. After that, some items move to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Lost and Found Center, although sending dates can vary. Through-service trains may require separate inquiries to the connecting railway.

What to do

  1. 1

    Reconstruct the Metro journey

Record the line, direction, train time, boarding and exit stations, car number, seat or standing area, transfer, and last point where you saw the item.

  2. 2

    Use the day-of-loss route

If you noticed the loss the same day, contact the nearest Tokyo Metro station office. The station may check items held at another station, so report promptly.

  3. 3

    Follow the next-day route

From the next day, use the Tokyo Metro Customer Relations Center, inquiry form, or Lost and Found Center at Iidabashi as the official page instructs. Similar items may require an in-person check.

  4. 4

    Prepare for collection

Tokyo Metro asks the owner to bring official identification and a seal. A third party needs a proxy letter, the owner's ID copy, the representative's original ID, and the representative's seal; confirm the current list.
